PHARMACY chain Boots will create 24 jobs in the county when it opens its new store in Portlaoise later this month.

The new store will be located in the Laois Shopping Centre and will officially open its doors on Wednesday 21 September.

“The Portlaoise store will be our 64th store in the Republic of Ireland,” said Debbie Smith, managing director, Boots Ireland. “We’re delighted to be opening here and to be part of the exciting new Laois Shopping Centre, something which the town and people of Portlaoise have been eagerly anticipating for some time. We believe Boots will complement the existing retail offering in this thriving community and we are looking forward to offering our customers an extensive product range and excellent standards of customer care.”

Kevin Doyle, Laois Shopping Centre manager, commented: “We are delighted to welcome Boots to Laois Shopping Centre. A key element of the redevelopment of the centre is to create an improved offer for our customers and enhance their overall shopping experience. The introduction of Boots will certainly do just that.”

Operating in Ireland since 1996, Boots employs over 1,840 people nationwide.
