THEY really do make them lovely in Laois. Actress Lesley Conroy is about to become a very familiar face in our living room.
The Portlaoise-born actress has scooped a leading role in Mattie, a new sitcom with the always popular Pat Shortt of Killinaskully fame at its helm.
Mattie, a six-part comedy focusing on the exploits of a country cop who gets transferred to a busy city station, will be hitting the small screen this Sunday 5 September at 8.30pm.
Laois native Lesley plays Sharon Kelly, a feisty female detective who gets paired with Mattie. Although born in Portlaoise, Lesley moved to Cork at a young age.
And if her face is familiar to many, it will be because Lesley already has an impressive body of work behind her.
Notably, she received a best supporting actress nomination in the 2009 IFTA’s for her role in the award-winning feature Eden. She also appeared in RTE’s The Clinic and most recently School Run for TV3.
