Body of missing fisherman found on Inishbofin

A fisherman's body has been recovered off the coast of Co Galway.

Malin Head Coast Guard was notified at 10.15pm on Wednesday night that a fisherman was overdue and presumed missing off Inishbofin.

The Coast Guard and RNLI carried out a search around the island.

A body was recovered by members of the local community on the northern shore of the island just before midnight on Wednesday.

The operation was supported by the Coast Guard helicopter R118 on scene and both lifeboats from Clifden RNLI.
