Brilliant Ballyroan breeze past Emo to claim Roinn 2 title

BALLYROAN were crowned Roinn 2 champions following an incredible display against Emo.
After a close first half, Ballyroan blasted away in the second half and scored 21 points in total.
Oliver Cooney and Tadgh Brennan were outstanding for their school, both showcasing their ability to kick points from long range.
Ballyroan opened brightly, with Lucas Lalor and Conor Ryan splitting the posts for the first two points.
Emo captain Alex Strong got his side off the mark before Ballyroan hit a devastating spell, registering 2-2 without reply.
Johnny Delaney netted the first goal, with Brennan and Lalor adding points, before Lalor teed up Jack Burtenshaw for Ballyroan’s second green flag.
Strong added a second free before Brennan replied at the other end. Emo mounted a mini-comeback before the break, outscoring Ballyroan 3-2 to 0-3.
Louis Finane struck twice, Barry McDonald also found the net, while Strong and McDonald chipped in with points.
Two late points from Brennan and a Cooney free gave Ballyroan a slender 2-8 to 3-4 lead at half-time.
Ballyroan dominated the second half, scoring almost at will. Patrick Lawlor opened the scoring before Cooney grabbed a goal and a point in quick succession.
Further scores from Lalor, Brennan (2), Delaney, Ryan, and Cooney followed before Delaney rifled home his second goal.
The game concluded with four unanswered Cooney points, sealing a comprehensive victory and crowning Ballyroan the Roinn 2 champions.
