Brown and Devaney lead Holy Family to glory

Holy Family 2-8 

 Portarlington 1-7 Holy Family were crowned Cumann na mBunscol Roinn 1 champions after overcoming St Phadraigh Portarlington BNS in a tight encounter.

Sam Brown and Tom Devaney led the way throughout the match and finished with 2-6 between them.

Portarlington got the first score of the game from Darragh Nolan, but Holy Family would strike for a goal through Tom Devaney.

Kiernan raised a green flag of his own to regain the lead for Portarinlgton BNS but it didn’t last long.

Sam Brown then came to the fore and would kick the last three points of to go in at the break in the lead 1-4 to 1-2 in favour of Holy Family.

Holy Family came out storming after the break with a point from Sean Daly. Disaster soon struck for Portarlington BNS as Tom Devaney got his second goal of the game.

Jackson Dunphy would respond for Portarlington but Holy Family stepped on the gas once more with points from Sean Hallion, Brown and Daly all scoring.

Finn Hawkins grabbed a point, but his side needed goals as the time was ticking away. Sam Brown added another point to push the lead out to five.

Dunphy and Hawkins landed the last two scores for Portarlington but wasn’t to be as Holy Family held out for the title
