WHILE a lot of the attention of Portlaoise RFC members will be focussed on Eimear Corri-Fallon this weekend, two of the club’s underage players will also be representing the club at inter-provincial level. While Corri-Fallon will be on the Irish women’s side that play Spain in tomorrow’s second round of the Women’s World Cup, Rebecca Cahill and Cian Brophy will be pulling on the blue of Leinster.
Cahill has been one of the standout players for the Leinster U/18 girls team this season who will play Connacht in the final today in UCD at 2.45pm.
Winger Cahill, centre Grainne Cleary and as well as blindside Erin McFadden, all started in last year’s final. Eabha O’Mahony, in the front row, and Katie Anne Bobbett, in the back row, made appearances from the bench.
Cahill has been on fire this season scoring two tries in the opening round win over Ulster, and scoring her third of the campaign in the win over Munster.

Meanwhile, Leinster will be looking to secure the PwC U/19 Interprovincial title at Virgin Media Park on Sunday at 5pm. Having beaten Ulster (33-8) and Connacht (47-24) Leinster will be champions as long as they win or draw with the same match points; in other words, prevent Munster from grabbing a four-try bonus point from a draw unless they do the same.
Having started against Connacht in the last round, Portlaoise’s Cian Bulter has been selected on the panel and is sure to make an appearance off the bench tomorrow.
