Camross continue perfect start with dominant display

CAMROSS made it two wins from two in the Laois Shopping Centre Premier IHC after putting in a fantastic display from start to finish overcoming Clonaslee/St Manman’s in Slieve Bloom on Sunday afternoon The victors were just too strong for Clonaslee/St Manman's and crashed in five goals throughout the game, three in the first half with the other two coming midway through the second period, but by then the game was over.

Camross took an early lead with points from Robert Delaney and Matthew Collier, Clonaslee/St Manman’s did reply through Will Young, but it was all Camross in the early stages.

They would reel off three points in a row through Collier who grabbed another two while Ryan Cuddy would split the posts to add his name to the score sheet.

Will Young kept his side in touch with a brace of points, one brilliant effort from play and the other was a 65.

Ben Deegan then got in on the scoring act as he grabbed two brilliant points from play. Against the run of play Clonaslee/St Manman’s got the first goal of the game.

A long free from Will Young was flicked on by Oisin Keating to find the back of the net to leave a point between the sides after all of Camross's dominance.

Their response was a good one as they found they first goal through Darrell Dooley which was similar to the Clonaslee/St Manman’s goal as a long ball was played in and Dooley flicked it home.

Ben Deegan followed it up with a point before Ashton Keenan hit the back of the net for Camross and it was a long way back for Clonaslee/St Manman's.

Will Young would hit three in a row, but Camross responded with three of their own through Darrell Dooley, Deegan and Keenan.

Cian Callaghan responded for his side, but Camross struck for their third goal before half time through David Mortimer and it was game over with the scores at 3-12 to 1-7.

Ashton Keenan opened the scoring in the second half, but Will Young was keeping his side in it with two more frees.

Camross then found another gear hitting three more points in a row through Keenan, Deegan and Matthew Collier to extend the lead.

They then hit two goals in the space of a minute, first Mortimer punished a mistake in the defence and found the net, he then turned provider to Ashton Keenan who would hit his second goal of the game.

Young added another free, before a flash point happened between the two sides leading to red cards for Manus Dunne and Fionn Owens for Clonaslee/St Manman's while Robert Lalor was sent off for Camross.

David Mortimer then added another point for Camross as the game petered out. Will Young and Liam Senior added two more points but it mattered little.

Eoin Dowling and Ben Deegan would add further points for Camross while Patrick Hyland finished the scoring as Camross ran out deserving winners.
