PORTLAOISE GAA appointed Turlough O’Brien as the manager of their senior men’s football team for the 2025 season.

O’Brien brings a wealth of experience to the role. A former inter-county manager with his native Carlow for six years, he has been a driving force behind the success of his club, Éire Óg, for many years. His track record of achievement and leadership makes him an excellent addition to our club.

Turlough will be bringing fellow Carlow native, Simon Rea with him as part of his management team. Simon is an experienced and highly regarded coach, and was an excellent inter-county footballer in his day.

The full management team will be finalised in the coming days and weeks.

In a statement the club said: “We warmly welcome Turlough and Simon to Portlaoise GAA and wish them every success in their time with us.

“The club would also like to express its sincere gratitude to the outgoing management team, led by Aidan Fennelly, and supported by Colm Byrne, Tommy Mulligan and Allan Daly for their hard work, professionalism, and dedication throughout the 2024 season.”
