Conway and Conroy lead Ratheniska to Roinn 2 Shield glory

IN the last final of the day, it was Ratheniska NS that came out on top in a tightly fought contest.

Ratheniska NS got off to a dream start with an early goal from Molly Conroy straight from the throw in.

Killenard responded brilliantly through a point from Erin Dunne, but Ratheniska hit back for their second goal through Sadie Conway who finished well.

Zara Craig was then on target for Killenard in an exciting opening few minutes in the last game of the day. Dunne then followed up with another point as it was tight in the early stages.

Craig then levelled up matters with a close-range point and followed it with another point to give Killenard the lead.

Paige Morrisey then got Ratheniska's third goal which was followed by a fourth goal through Conroy for her second.

Craig responded with the last point of the half as Ratheniska led 4-0 to 0-6 at the break.

Reiltin Kehoe got the scoring underway in the second half for the Killenard school. Craig then nailed a free to draw the game level with ten minutes left on the clock.

Sadie Conway got Ratheniska back into the lead with a free with Molly Conroy grabbing another extend the lead.

Conway added another point as they now led 4-3 to 0-8 with six minutes left. Zara Craig kept her side in the contest with another free.

She then reduced the gap to one with a 45 to ensure a nail-biting finish. Conway would get the last score as Ratheniska NS were crowned champions.
