Early goal sets Emo on course for Roinn 4 glory

EMO claimed the Division 4 camogie title after overcoming Raheen in a tightly contested and low-scoring final.

The champions made the perfect start when Gracie Booth found the back of the net inside the opening minute.It looked set to become a free-scoring encounter, but both sides quickly tightened up defensively and scores proved difficult to come by.

Emo enjoyed the majority of possession and attacking opportunities, though Raheen’s defence stood strong throughout. Goalkeeper Bella Hayes impressed behind a solid full-back line featuring Jessica Farrell, Siobhan O’Sullivan and Lucy Dunne.

At the other end, Katie Keyes struck two points to bring Raheen level approaching half-time. However, Emo regained control before the break when Sadie O’Connor fired home a goal to leave it 2-0 to 0-2 at the interval.

The second half followed a similar pattern, with Emo continuing to create chances while Raheen battled hard defensively.

Rachel Dwyer was unfortunate not to register on two occasions, while Anna McCarthy narrowly missed the target with another opportunity. Emo eventually added to their tally when Sadie O’Connell grabbed her second goal of the game with a powerful finish.

Raheen pushed for a response late on, and the impressive Siobhan O’Sullivan came close with a long-range effort. But there were to be no further scores as Emo sealed the Division 4 crown.
