Griffin leads the way as Shanahoe secure Division 4 Girls title

Shanahoe NS 6-12

Paddock NS 1-1

SHANAHOE were crowned Division 4 Girls Champions after producing a dominant display to overcome Paddock in impressive fashion.

From the opening whistle, Shanahoe set the tone and quickly established control, with Annie Griffin delivering a superb individual performance. The lively forward proved a constant threat whenever she got on the ball and amassed an outstanding 1-5 during the opening half.

Shanahoe's attacking strength was evident throughout the first period. Mary Kate Kennedy and Cliondhna McDonnell both found the back of the net, while Niamh Bergin added two well-taken points as the eventual champions steadily increased their advantage.

Paddock struggled to gain possession in dangerous areas and found it difficult to build any attacking momentum against a disciplined Shanahoe defence. Their only score of the first half came courtesy of Molly Rose Fitzpatrick, but Shanahoe's relentless scoring saw them open up a commanding 4-7 to 0-1 lead by the interval.

Knowing they needed a strong response after the restart, Paddock battled hard and were rewarded when Willow Campion struck for a goal. However, Shanahoe quickly regained control and ensured there would be no route back into the contest for their opponents.

Griffin capped a brilliant display by adding another goal to her tally, while Mary Kate Kennedy also raised a green flag as Shanahoe continued to dominate proceedings. Further scores from Aisling Drennan and Niamh Bergin underlined their superiority and kept the scoreboard moving in the right direction.

With strong performances throughout the field and a clinical edge in attack, Shanahoe remained comfortably on top until the final whistle, securing a deserved and comprehensive victory to claim the Division 4 Girls Championship title in style.
