Hurling championship draws made but no Senior ‘B’ this year

THE draw for this year’s Laois Shopping Centre Hurling Championships was held on Thursday evening at the Laois GAA Centre of Excellence.

As with the football draw, Laois GAA Chairperson PJ Kelly led the proceedings, accompanied by Hurling Chairman PJ Rafter and Kevin Doyle from Laois Shopping Centre.

The Senior Hurling Championship will see 10 teams divided into two groups of five. In a crossover format, teams in Group A will face teams from Group B, and vice versa.

Reigning 2025 champions Clough/Ballacolla have been placed in Group B, where they will line out alongside Rathdowney/Errill, Borris/Kilcotton, The Harps and Premier Intermediate winners Ballyfin. Group A features last year’s finalists Camross, who are joined by Ballinakill, Rosenallis, St Lazarian’s Abbeyleix and Portlaoise.

Unlike 2025 when The Harps overcame St Lazarian’s Abbeyleix in the Senior ‘B’ final in Colt, there will be no Senior ‘B’ competition in 2026.

In the Premier Intermediate Championship draw, Intermediate champions Clonad were allocated to Group A together with Mountmellick, Camross and Clonaslee St Manman’s. Group B will consist of Rathdowney/Errill, Castletown, Colt/Shanahoe and Clough/Ballacolla.
