Gardaí have launched an investigation after a man's body was found in West Donegal on Thursday.

The body of the man, who was in his 50s, was found around 2.40 pm in Kincasslagh.

It is understood the man was found dead in a car in which he had been sleeping for a number of months.

It is understood he is originally from Northern Ireland.

A Garda spokesperson confirmed "Gardaí and emergency services responded to the discovery of the body of a male (aged in his 50's) at a location in Kincasslagh, Co. Donegal, yesterday, Thursday 25th June 2026 at approximately 2:40pm.

"The coroner has been notified.

"A post-mortem examination will be arranged in due course, the results of which will determine the course of the investigation.

"No further information is available at this time. Inquiries ongoing."
