Laois and North Midlands well represented on Leinster team
Portlaoise RFC's Lily Brophy, Chloe Kavanagh, Saffron Adams and Mary O'Hara
LAOIS and the wider North Midlands Area will be very well represented on the Leinster U/18 girls team which takes on Munster tomorrow (Saturday) in the opening round of this season’s inter-provincial series. Portlaoise have three players in the starting fifteen while Portarlington have one.
Portlaoise will be represented by winger Mary O’Hara, hooker Chloe Kavanagh and flanker Lily Brophy. Portarlington’s representative is Mila Mihajlovic in the second row.
The side will be captained by Cill Dara’s Emily Miller from the second row and she will be joined in the pack by club mate and prop, Lucy Noones.
Others from the North Midlands Area are starting winger Lily Harney (Naas) while Kate Lawler and Catherine Murphy, both Athy, are both likely to make appearances from the bench.
A number of other North Midland players are also part of the extended 40-player panel - Saffron Adams (Portlaoise); Eabha Lawlor, Aimee Deering, Lucy Noons (all PortDara); Isabel Murphy (Athy) and Misha Magee (Naas).
There is also a strong Laois connection with the coaching team where head coach Charlie Doel is joined by Portlaoise’s Bryan Croke (Attack Coach) and Paidi Mahon (Forwards Coach) from Portarlington.
Leinster are looking for a third title in a row after going unbeaten in back-to-back seasons The game will take place at Virgin Media Park following the conclusion of Leinster’s clash with Munster in the Vodafone Women’s Interprovincial Championship at the same venue.
