Laois must rally behind camogie stars as All-Ireland final fundraising drive begins

LAOIS Camogie has launched a county-wide fundraising campaign to support its Intermediate team as preparations intensify for next month's All-Ireland Championship final in Croke Park.

The O'Moore County will face Antrim on Sunday 9 August as they look to complete another remarkable chapter in what has been a memorable period for the county's camogie fortunes.

Having secured a place in a third successive All-Ireland final, the panel is appealing to businesses, supporters and the wider Laois community to get behind their bid for national glory.

The fundraising drive comes on the back of an extraordinary season for the team. Just 12 months after lifting the Premier Junior All-Ireland title and earning promotion, Laois have reached the Intermediate decider in their first campaign back at the grade.

In a statement accompanying the appeal, Laois Camogie praised the dedication and commitment shown by the players throughout the year.

"Dreams really do come true," the appeal stated.

"Just one year after winning the Junior Premier All-Ireland title, our incredible Laois Intermediate panel has earned their place in the Intermediate All-Ireland Final in Croke Park on Sunday, August 9.

"This is an extraordinary achievement and one that every player, coach, family and supporter should be immensely proud of."

The county board also highlighted the sacrifices made by players away from the field as they strive to compete at the highest level.

"Behind every training session, every match and every victory are countless hours of commitment and sacrifice," the statement continued.

"These girls have given everything to represent Laois with pride, balancing work, college, family life and training, all for the love of the game."

While the team's success has generated huge excitement across the county, reaching an All-Ireland final also brings significant costs. Funds raised through the campaign will help cover travel, preparation, equipment and match-day expenses as the squad gears up for its biggest test of the season.

Local businesses are being encouraged to become sponsors, while supporters are being asked to contribute whatever they can to assist the team's preparations.

"If you own a business, this is a wonderful opportunity to support a team that represents the very best of our county," the appeal said.

"If you're a supporter, your contribution, no matter how small, will help these girls focus on what matters most: giving everything they have on the biggest stage of all."

The appeal concludes with a call for the entire county to unite behind the team ahead of one of the most significant days in recent Laois camogie history.

"Let's come together as one county and show this incredible panel that they are not walking into Croke Park alone," the statement added.

"They have inspired us with their determination, resilience and heart. Now it's our turn to stand behind them.

"Together, let's help make history."
