Laois will bid to end a 13-year wait for All-Ireland U/16 ‘B’ Championship success when they face Roscommon in the final in Kinnegad this (Wednesday) evening at 7.15pm.

Laois last won the title in 2013 after defeating Clare, and a new generation now has the chance to bring national honours back to the county following an impressive championship campaign.

Roscommon, meanwhile, are chasing a first-ever All-Ireland U/16 ‘B’ crown. They were runners-up in 2009 and 2015 and will be determined to finally claim the title after coming close on previous occasions.

Laois have impressed with their attacking power throughout the competition. Laura Malone has been a key scoring threat, while Mia Delaney’s finishing ability and Kate Dowling’s pace and creativity have made the Laois forward line one of the most dangerous in the championship.

Defensively, Lilly Brophy and Sarah Cunningham are expected to play pivotal roles as Laois look to contain Roscommon’s leading attackers.

Roscommon arrive in strong form, with Katie Conroy and Isabella Downey emerging as major threats. The pair combined for 2-7 in Roscommon’s semi-final victory over Armagh and will be central to their hopes of making history.

With Laois seeking a first title in over a decade and Roscommon aiming for a breakthrough triumph at this grade, all the ingredients are in place for an exciting and closely contested final in Kinnegad.
