Joe Mallon Motor Group Welcomes New Government ICE2EV Scrappage Scheme

The legendary Renault 4 has been reborn, fully electric.

Joe Mallon Motor Group Welcomes New Government ICE2EV Scrappage Scheme to Help Drivers Make the Switch to Electric with Support up to €8,500 Joe Mallon Motor Group, home of Peugeot, Renault and Dacia in Kildare and Renault and Dacia in Laois, has welcomed the Government’s new ICE2EV Scheme, administered by the SEAI and launching in July, which is designed to help motorists switch from older petrol and diesel vehicles to cleaner electric alternatives.

The scheme offers eligible drivers a €5,000 scrappage payment when trading in a qualifying petrol or diesel vehicle that is 13 years old or more. This can be combined with the existing SEAI electric vehicle grant of up to €3,500, bringing the total potential support available to €8,500. The initiative aims to make electric motoring more affordable while supporting Ireland’s transition to lower-emission transport.

With dealerships in Naas and Portlaoise, Joe Mallon Motors is encouraging local motorists to explore the opportunities available through the scheme. The company offers a broad range of electric vehicles across the Renault and Peugeot brands to suit different budgets and lifestyles.

The Renault brand has a fantastic electric vehicle lineup, from legends reborn including the Renault 4 and Renault 5 (2026 Irish Car of the Year and the 2025 European Car of the Year), the stylish Renault Megane and the Spacious Renault Scenic (2025 Irish Car of the Year and the 2024 European Car of the Year).

The Peugeot Lineup is just as strong with electric cars to suit everyone from the compact E-208 to the hugely popular E-3008 and the E-5008 seven-seater, crowned NPPA Best Family Car 2025.

“We are delighted to see the introduction of the ICE2EV Scheme, which will help more motorists take advantage of the many benefits of electric driving,” said Philip Mallon from Joe Mallon Motors. “For many customers, the combination of government support and the lower running costs of an EV makes now an excellent time to consider making the switch.” The timing also coincides with the new 262 registration period. When combined with Joe Mallon Motors’ current finance packages and promotional offers, eligible customers could benefit from some of the strongest savings currently available on new electric vehicles.

The scheme will operate on a first-come, first-served basis and is subject to eligibility criteria and funding availability. The team at Joe Mallon Motors is available to guide customers through the eligibility requirements and explain the range of electric vehicle options available under the scheme. The team can be contacted on 045 897675 for Naas and 057 8665800 for Portlaoise.
