The case came before Judge Elva Duffy in Naas Courthouse on Friday.

The Garda Commissioner ‘met obligations’ around informing the Justice Minister about an undercover operation prior to a shooting, a spokesman said.

The matter had been referred to the Garda ombudsman

The incident unfolded at 6.15pm when it appears a man fired a number of shots towards the roof of the busy Tesco supermarket at the Fairgreen Shopping Centre.

Gardai seized a battle rifle, a semi-automatic handgun and more than 40 rounds of ammunition.
