The head of the Irish Prison Service has warned capacity in the system has been stretched "far beyond its limits".

A report found that last year there were 76 reported incidents, compared with 42 in 2023 and 12 in 2022.

An unannounced inspection of the CMH by the Mental Health Commission over four days in May 2024 identified 17 areas of non-compliance at the centre – up from 11 during the previous inspection in 2023.
