Fuels for Ireland says it "will not be in a position to guarantee fuel availability at forecourts nationwide by early next week" if the blockades are not lifted by Monday.

Cars clogged up a main road and a car park at a filling station in Kells, Co Meath, on their quest for fuel today.

This regulation comes following an EU Directive and will require forecourt owners to display a poster or screen with the cost to travel 100 kilometres in a petrol, diesel, and electric vehicle
