Catherine Connolly has laid a wreath at the annual 1916 Arbour Hill Commemoration for her first time as President.

Micheál Martin stressed Ireland’s flag belongs to everyone ‘including those you disagree with’.

Ceremonies took place across Ireland to remember those who died in wars or in service.

The ceremony included prayers and statements by different faith leaders and a wreath-laying by President Michael D Higgins.
