The cyber incident was first detected in November 2024 and left staff and students without internet access or internal email services.

Students from Heywood Community School were among 500 students from 22 schools across Waterford, Wexford, Carlow, Kilkenny, and Laois, who gathered at the SETU Arena in Waterford to showcase their inspiring social justice projects.

The campus had no internet and access to other online facilities.
