Yuno's chief executive, Cathal Fay, said that the absence of universal energy credits this winter would make customers more price-sensitive than ever.

The supplier is increasing the unit rate of its electricity by 12.75 per cent and the unit rate of its gas by 10.5 per cent.

The reduction will come into effect for over one million customers in November.
