More than 1,100 official files at the Public Record Office in Belfast have been opened to the public under the 20-year rule.

But PSNI Assistant Chief Constable Davy Beck said there was no intelligence to suggest it was sanctioned by the organisation’s leadership.

Mary Lou McDonald said such images were upsetting for her children - but added they know their mother is "a tough nut" who can deal with it
