The former RTÉ political correspondent and Northern Ireland editor died last week after an illness.

His former colleague Bryan Dobson paid tribute to him as ‘a giant of public service broadcasting’.

Taoiseach Simon Harris paid tribute to him as “a trusted name who was welcomed into homes across the country throughout his long career”.
