ONE of the largest solar energy farms in Ireland is being planned for Laois. A subsidiary of a global Danish-owned energy company – Ørsted Onshore Ireland Midco Ltd – is planning to develop a solar farm across a stretch of land measuring 4.

One councillor said: 'A friend of mine took her dog to be natured last week and it cost her €220. It’s a lot of money for somebody who is only getting €230 a week.'
