LAST year Laois County Council spent over €4 million on a road safety upgrade along the Abbeyleix Road in Portlaoise. As part of the works, over 300 wooden roadside bollards were installed along the route.

COUNCILLORS from the Portlaoise Municipal District Council heaped praise on a council administrative officer on her final day with them.

“The problem is the timeframe and the bird nesting season," said the councillor.

The council is to examine the location to see how the issue can be resolved.
