The Government has been urged to support a ban on ‘recommender algorithms’ for under 18s.

Only €125,000 of €530 million in DPC fines was collected last year. Most of the €4 billion total issued over the past six years is still under appeal in Irish courts.

The DPC said that of all fines issued between 2020 and the end of October this year, only €19.9 million of the total has been paid so far.
