DIVISION 2 awaits for the Laois hurlers in 2026 after falling to their fourth defeat from five games in Division 1B after the visit of Carlow to Laois Hire O’Moore Park on Saturday afternoon.

Laois manager Tommy Fitzgerald’s initial reaction to Saturday’s loss against Carlow is that he’s ‘obviously very disappointed’.

IN the good old days of Dr Cullen Park Laois and Carlow produced several battles in the League, Oireachtas, Walsh Cup and Championship. 1982 saw the visitors score 1-15 in victory.

THIS weekend sees a big clash between two counties separated by the River Barrow and the two are regular contestants on either side of the river. Last year they met on both sides of the divide. Carlow came to Portlaoise and took the spoils.

TOMORROW sees Davy Fitzgerald still in search of a first victory since taking charge of the Saffrons. Last time out a late goal earned them a hard earned point in Netwatch Cullen Park. Then Laois beat Westmeath.
