An inspection of the George’s Dock Bridge, which carries Luas trams in Dublin, showed visible buckling of steel while concrete lost most of its structural strength.

Following an assessment, the bridge has been found to be structurally compromised.

The news comes following severe damage to George's Docklands bridge by a recent fire in the area. 

Luas operator Transdev was unable to confirm a reopening date

Commuters have been told trams to the Docklands area would not be operating ‘for the foreseeable’.
