A man with Laois roots became the second most senior officer in the World Bank on Monday.

Minister for Finance Paschal Donohoe is to step down to take up a position at the World Bank

Mr Donohoe has long been linked with roles in the global financial world and is the current chair of the Eurogroup of finance ministers.
