BALLYBROPHY Train Station was officially named ‘Age Friendly’ at a launch ceremony on Friday 2 May.

OVER 2,000 attendees are expected to attend this year’s Live Well Health and Wellbeing Expo in Portlaoise on Wednesday 23 April. The Expo is free of charge to attend and is delivered through a partnership between Age Friendly Laois and Healthy Laois.

The three day event takes place from Tuesday to Thursday 16 to 18 September.

LEGENDARY Laois woman Anna May McHugh received the most prestigious accolade a university can bestow, when she was awarded an honorary doctorate by SETU Carlow on Friday 1 November.

SOUTH East Technological University (SETU) is set to award honorary doctorates to five distinguished individuals in recognition of their exceptional and outstanding contributions to society.

Anna May McHugh said that farming and agriculture ‘is the backbone of Ireland’ and young people need to be included more.
