A pedestrian is in a critical condition after they were hit by a car in Ardfert, Co. Kerry, on Monday night.

The incident occurred in the Tubrid More area at approximately 9:20 pm.

The pedestrian, a man in his 30s, was conveyed to University Hospital Kerry, where he remains in critical condition.

The driver of the vehicle had left the scene before the arrival of gardaí.

The scene has been examined, and the road has since fully reopened to traffic.

Gardaí are appealing to anyone with information regarding this incident to contact them.

Any road users who were travelling between Ardfert village, Tubrid More, Doon North, Lislosse, R556 Tralee /Abbeydorney Road and the main road between Abbeydorney and Ardfert between 7.30 pm and 9.30 pm on Monday, the 2nd of March 2026, who witnessed anything or may have camera footage (including dash-cam) are asked to make contact with investigating gardaí.
