Man (50s) dies after crash between car and bicycle in Co Mayo

A man, aged in his 50s, has died following a crash between a car and a bicycle in Co Mayo on Wednesday evening.

Gardaí are appealing for witnesses following the collision which occurred outside Ballinrobe on the N84 at Carrowkeel, Co Mayo on Wednesday.

Shortly after 9pm, gardaí and emergency services responded to reports of a collision involving a vehicle and a bicycle.

One of the individuals, a man in his mid 50s, sustained serious injuries, and was transported to University College Hospital, Galway where he was later pronounced dead.

The scene remains preserved for forensic examination by Garda forensic collision investigators and the road is currently closed with local diversions in place.

Gardaí are appealing to anyone who witnessed the incident to contact them. Road users with camera footage (including dash-cam) from the N84 at Carrowkeel, Co Mayo around the time of the collision are also asked to make this available to investigating gardaí.
