THE Heath claimed the Roinn 2 Boys Football Championship title after overcoming Emo in a thrilling, high-scoring contest at O'Moore Park.

Charlie Mulhare was the star of the show, scoring four goals as The Heath's attacking firepower proved too much for their opponents.

The champions made a flying start. Finn Hyland opened the scoring before Harry Kavanagh found the net and then set up Mulhare for his first goal. Mulhare quickly added a second as The Heath raced into a commanding early lead.

Emo hit back through Evan O'Connor, who scored a goal and a point, while Conall Malone, Barry McDonald and Billy Maree also chipped in. However, Mulhare completed his hat-trick before the break to leave The Heath 4-4 to 2-4 ahead at half-time.

Emo stayed in contention when Andy O'Connell struck his second goal shortly after the restart, but The Heath responded in devastating fashion.

A superb scoring burst of 1-6 without reply effectively settled the contest. Mulhare grabbed his fourth goal after reacting quickest to a rebound, while Kavanagh, Zach O'Connor and Leon Bergin all added valuable scores as the lead stretched into double digits.

Emo continued to battle gamely and were rewarded late on. Charlie Lewis ended a barren spell before goals from James Murphy and Maree reduced the deficit. In between, Ollie Cullinane found the net for The Heath's seventh goal.

While Emo never stopped fighting, The Heath's sharp finishing and attacking quality ultimately proved decisive, with Mulhare's four-goal haul leading the way as they captured the Roinn 2 title in style.
