National Slow Down Day: Driver detected doing 144km/h in 100km/h zone in Wicklow

Gardaí have caught a driver travelling at 144km/h in a 100km/h zone on the N11 in Newcastle, Co Wicklow, on National Slow Down Day.
An Garda Síochána is conducting National Slow Down Day in partnership with the Road Safety Authority (RSA) from 12am-11:59pm on Wednesday.
So far this National Slow Down Day, members of An Garda Síochána, along with GoSafe Mobile and Static Safety Cameras, have detected a total of 125 vehicles travelling in excess of the applicable speed limit.
Examples of high speeds detected include:
- 144km/h in a 100km/h zone on the N11 in Newcastle Co Wicklow;
- 84km/h in a 60km/h zone in Ashbourne Co Meath;
- 110km/h in a 80km/h zone on the R445 in Portlaoise Co Laois;
- 141km/h in a 100km/h zone on the N67 in Co Galway;
- 153km/h in a 120km/h zone on the M7 in Nenagh Co Tipperary.
