‘AYE MI’ is an upcoming showcase from Youth Work Ireland Laois, which will display a vibrant collection of work from a diverse group of young teenagers and adults.

Curated by broadcaster Ann Marie Kelly, the event highlights the creative expressions of young people speaking and performing about who and where they are at this precise moment in time.

The event will take place on bank holiday Monday 26 October at the Dunamaise Arts Centre theatre.

The project records young, contemporary, and diverse voices talking about the world they live in through film, audio and photography. It creates a space for young people from various cultures and backgrounds living in Laois to express themselves, understand their unique heritage and culture and celebrate differences. Acting as a living time capsule, the project captures what their world is like today to preserve it as tomorrow's history.

The participating group comprises ten young people ranging in age from 14 to 22. While living in Laois, they bring a rich and diverse heritage, including first-generation Irish experiences, Zimbabwean, Filipino and Syrian backgrounds, among others.

The showcase features an engaging programme of live performances, thought-provoking film screenings and an insightful panel discussion, alongside interactive elements like human bingo and live artistic contributions from a dancer and drummers.

The project was funded by Creative Ireland Laois and the evening is funded by LOETB local creative youth partnership.

Those interested in attending are advised to RSVP.
