BESTSELLING author Andrea Carter will conduct a workshop on crime-writing in Heritage House, Abbeyleix on Saturday 23 November from 10am to 3pm.
Best known for her ‘Inishowen Mystery Series’ books, she now lives in Dublin with her husband, documentary maker Geoff Power.
The Ballyfin reared author, first book ‘Death at Whitewater Church’ was a winner of the Irish Writers Centre Novel Fair. She been the recipient of two Arts Council of Ireland Literature Bursary Awards and a Dublin City Council Bursary Award. Her short story ‘The Lamb’ was shortlisted for the Irish Book Awards in 2019. Her seventh book and first standalone novel ‘There Came a-Tapping’ will be published in March 2025.
Andrea will facilitate the creative writing workshop suitable for all levels with a leaning towards crime fiction. Those taking part will explore finding your voice, setting, characterisation and dialogue, while also looking at research, structure, and editing.
There will be writing prompts and exercises to allow attendees flex their writing muscles and emerge having acquired some useful tools to apply to their own work.
Andrea will also talk to participants about what to do with their manuscript once they have finished it, with tips on how to go about submitting to agents and publishers.
The workshop is priced at €80 and is limited to 12 people.
