Campaign encourages Laois businesses to become more breastfeeding friendly
At the launch of the Breastfeeding Friendly Laois, which is supported by the HSE Health and Improvement Unit, Healthy Laois, Laois Libraries and Laois Chamber Alliance
A LAOIS-based breastfeeding campaign is encouraging businesses and organisations across the county to become more breastfeeding friendly.
The official campaign took place between 1-7 October.
The campaign is a partnership between the HSE Health and Improvement Unit, Healthy Laois, Laois Libraries and Laois Chamber Alliance, with the aim to help improve the health and wellbeing of breastfeeding mothers, babies and their families by encouraging businesses, organisations and community groups across Co Laois to become breastfeeding friendly.
The campaign calls on businesses, organisations and community groups to welcome and support breastfeeding mothers and families if they have a premises open to the public; they could be hotels, community centres, sports and recreational facilities, restaurants or health centres.
Laois Co Council and Laois Library Services currently support WBBF Laois across the county.
To join the WBBF initiative in Laois, a business, organisation or community group must complete the WBBF Laois Agreement at the back of the WBBF Laois information booklet and return it to HealthyLaois@laoiscoco.ie.
The information booklet is available from Abbeyleix, Portarlington, Portlaoise and Mountrath branch Libraries, Laois Chamber Alliance office at Lyster Square in Portlaoise and Áras an Chontae, James Fintan Lalor Avenue, Portlaoise.
The booklet also provides practical tips for staff and useful links in relation to WBBF Laois.
