Car parked on footpath in Laois gets slapped with a €80 penalty notice

Motorist slapped with a €80 fixed charge penalty notice for parking on a footpath in Rathdowney
WHILE gardaí from Abbeyleix Garda Station were on patrol in Rathdowney over the weekend they saw a pedestrian that was pushing a buggy who had to step out onto the road into oncoming traffic to get by this car that was parked on the footpath.
They issued a fixed charge penalty notice of €80 to the owner of the vehicle for blocking the footpath.
Gardaí say that parking on footpaths puts vulnerable pedestrians, such as wheelchair users and those pushing buggies, at significant risk by forcing them off the footpath and into traffic.
