Laois man allegedly in possession of hatchet and fire extinguisher during alleged dispute

A MAN alleged to have been in possession of a hatchet and a fire extinguisher during an alleged dispute was remanded on continuing bail at Portlaoise District Court last week.
Graham Lambert (48), College View, Mountmellick was before the court for the possession of a hatchet and possessing a fire extinguisher, as well as engaging in violent disorder at College View on 17 October last year.
Garda Sgt Kirby said that at 7pm that evening, gardaí responded to reports of an alleged incident taking place at College View. When they arrived at the scene, they saw Mr Lamert allegedly in a verbal dispute with two other men and that they allegedly saw the defendant with a fire extinguisher and a hatchet.
Another man who was allegedly involved in the same alleged incident was also before the court.
John McDonagh (25), Irishtown was charged with violent disorder on the same date at the same location.
Judge Andrew Gubbins remanded both men on continuing bail to the 12 October sitting of the district court to allow them time to consider if they will enter guilty or not guilty pleas to the offences after viewing the garda evidence in the case.
