Laois man arrested three times within 24 hours

The case was heard at Portlaoise District Court

A MAN who was arrested three times in a 24-hour period was ordered to remain sober and stay out of a public park until his next court hearing, when he was brought before last week’s sitting of Portlaoise District Court.

The order was made against 44-year-old Robert Krogolewski with addresses at New Road, Portlaoise and Carmody Way, Fairgreen, Portlaoise.

Garda Rebecca Gavin told Judge Andrew Cody that on 10 June, Mr Krogolewski was first arrested in the People’s Park, Portlaoise for being intoxicated in public. On the day he was released from custody, he was rearrested at the same location for being intoxicated in public and for threatening, abusive or insulting words or behaviour.

The following day, said Garda Gavin, the defendant was again arrested in the public park for being intoxicated.

Judge Andrew Cody remanded Mr Krogolewski on his own bail to 7 July with conditions that he stays away from the People’s Park, is of sober habits and informs gardaí within 24 hours of any changes in his address.

Free legal aid was granted to the accused after his solicitor Josephine Fitzpatrick told the court that her client is unemployed and in receipt of Job Seeker’s Allowance.
