Laois man sent forward for trial on child porn charge

A LAOIS man was sent forward for trial to the 17 February sitting of Portlaoise Criminal Circuit on one count of possessing child pornography.
The 38-year-old, who cannot be named due to the order of the court, is alleged to have possessed child pornography at his home on 10 January 2023.
After he was served with a book of evidence at last week’s sitting of the district court in Portlaoise, Judge Susan Fay sent him forward and advised him that gardaí must be written to within 14 days if he wished to rely on an alibi in his defence.
She also approved free legal aid and assigned one solicitor and a junior counsel to the case.
