David sets gold standard in safe motorcycle riding

David Nolan with his RoSPA gold standard certificate

DAVID Nolan, owner of Nolan Driving Academy in Graiguecullen, recently sat the RoSPA advanced motorcycle driving test and achieved the gold standard. The RoSPA advanced motorcycle test is internationally recognised as the most comprehensive and challenging motorcycle test available to the public. It is monitored and approved by the Royal Society for the Prevention of Accidents (RoSPA) and is taken with an RoSPA examiner.

The gold standard Mr Nolan achieved is the highest driving standard a civilian driver can achieve and is only awarded to exceptional drivers.

David Nolan is a motorcycle instructor and the owner of Nolan Driving Academy. He has been riding motorcycles since he was 16, when his parents bought him a Yamaha RX 100cc. Since then, he has competed in short circuit racing in the southern Irish championship and qualified as a driving instructor through the Irish Prison Service.

He felt the next step was to complete the RoSPA motorcycle exam, which he encourages other drivers to consider.

The RoSPA driving test is aimed at riders who wish to develop their riding skills beyond the basics. The main objective of the RoSPA driving test is to reduce road accidents involving motorcyclists. The test encourages an interest in road safety and riding standards.
