Foróige clubs in Laois win regional awards

MEMBERS from various Foróige clubs from around Laois attended the South East Foróige Regional Citizenship Awards ceremony that were held recently in Naas Library and Cultural Centre.
The awards recognised young people from clubs, projects and services throughout the region that demonstrated their commitment to community improvement by showcasing projects focused on equality, inclusion, community events, culture, creativity and fundraising.
The Foróige Youth Citizenship Programme empower young people to use their talents and initiative to make a positive difference to the world around them. It involves young people researching the needs of their community, organising practical action in response, evaluating the effectiveness of their work and reflecting on what they’re learning along the way.
Among the winning clubs were Cullahill and Ratheniska Foróige Clubs who won the Best Display Awards. The Laois and Midlands Integrated Youth and Family Project won the One to Watch Award.

Foróige is a youth development organisation that makes it possible for young people to discover and reach their full potential in education, work and life.
The charity works with over 50,000 young people and 5,500 adult volunteers annually, through a network of more than 500 youth clubs & cafés, 200 targeted projects, and national programmes such as Youth Entrepreneurship, Health and Wellbeing, Citizenship and Youth Leadership.
