Free Family Play Trail announced for Portlaoise this Thursday

A FREE Trail Day is being hosted by Laois County Council and Portlaoise Tidy Towns as part of National Play Day 2026.
The event will take place this Thursday 9 July 2026.
The event will take place in Portlaoise Town Centre and Pairc an Phobail with admission free on a first-come, first-served basis.
The Portlaoise Play Trail features eight unique outdoor activity stations scattered across Portlaoise Town Centre and Páirc an Phobail. Led by professional artists and play leaders, the stations are designed to ensure every child can participate, regardless of ability.
Ann Marie Maher of Laois County Council’s Recreation Department said: "National Play Day is a great opportunity to witness the positive impact that play has on children's mental well-being, creativity, and social connections. By embracing the 'Play for All' ethos, we have created a trail of vibrant, inclusive activities that every child can enjoy."
Running under the national theme ‘Play for All,’ this initiative is funded by the Department of Children, Disability & Equality. Activities will take place between 9.30am and 1.30pm.
