Fundraiser for biker run over by truck in Graiguecullen

A biker who was mowed down by a black Ford Ranger pick-up truck, stolen by four youths on 8 July in Carlow town, has suffered life changing injuries, according to a GoFundMe page set up to support him and his family.
The page notes that Jackson Prabhakar George Fernandes has a wife and a young son, who has not yet turned one.
He suffered severe injuries including two shattered eye sockets, multiple broken ribs, a shattered pelvis, massive internal injuries and may lose his sight.
He will remain in hospital for a minimum of eight to 12 weeks and is facing a long and difficult road ahead, the page reads.
Jackson, a member of the biking community, was advised that he survived as a result of wearing full protective motorbike gear.
He was apparently waiting in traffic for the lights to turn green when the pick-up truck failed to stop for gardaí and ran over him while fleeing the scene.
The fundraiser is aiming to raise €5,000 and to replace Jackson’s loss of income while he recovers and to cover medical bills.
As of 24 July at 10am, it had raised over €3,200.
