FUNERAL details have been announced for late GAA President Liam O’Neill from Laois, who passed away on Tuesday.

A native of Trumera, he devoted decades of service to the promotion and development of Gaelic games at club, county, provincial and national levels and is regarded as one of the most influential administrators in the history of the GAA.

The former principal of Gaelscoil Thromaire passed away peacefully at his home in Bawnaree, Parkavilla, Mountrath, surrounded by his family.

Following a private cremation on 5 August, his ashes will repose at Burke's Funeral Home, Mountrath (R32Y661) this Friday from 4pm to 8pm.

Requiem Mass at 12 noon on Saturday in St Fintan's Church, Raheen (R32WT44) will be followed by burial of his ashes in the adjoining cemetery.

His death notice states that Liam was much-loved husband of Áine and father of Caoimhe, Ciaran, and Clíodhna, as well as a devoted grandfather of Éanan, Orla, Aobh and Alva.

He will also be sadly missed by his sons-in-law Kieran and Patrick, daughter-in-law Maija, sisters Maria, Gráinne, Mairéad, Gertrude, Suzette, brothers Diarmuid, Colm, and Killian.

He was predeceased by his parents Billy and Brigid, sisters Brenda, Barbara and Siobhán and brothers An t-Athair Caoimhín and Aengus.

Liam’s Requiem Mass will be live streamed on the link available on RIP.ie.
