Gardaí investigate alleged assault at The Midlands Prison, Portlaoise

An Garda Síochána are investigating all the circumstances of an Assault Causing Harm, which is alleged to have taken place in the Midlands Prison on the 6 December 2025.
This morning 12 December 2025, investigating Gardaí from the Serious Crime Unit, Laois/Offaly Garda Division have arrested four males (aged in their 20s and 30s) at the Midlands Prison, Portlaoise.
All four males are being detained under Section 4 of the Criminal Justice Act 1984 at Garda Stations in the Garda Eastern Region.
