Hats off to the Stradbally Steam Rally!

THERE was three times the fun at the fantastic 2026 National Steam Rally in Stradbally, as the famous event attracted huge crowds for three days over the August bank holiday weekend.
The Stradbally Hall grounds looked their beautiful best under sun-filled skies, as steam engines of all shapes and sizes joined countless other magnificent machines at the much-loved rally, rightly renowned as the premium event in Ireland’s steam and vintage calendar.
A huge line-up of activities and entertainment had something for everyone, from lawnmower racing and sheepdog demonstrations to trade stalls, a pet farm, sawing with steam, uplifting live music and dancing, a vintage road making display, a food tent with delicious fare, steam train rides, amusements, the annual blacksmith’s village and a craft village and much more.
Ireland's largest and longest-running celebration of steam and vintage heritage, hosted by the Irish Steam Preservation Society, also presented performances by local heroes the Timahoe Male Choir and a star-studded country music line-up featuring Michael English, Philomena Begley, Susan McCann, Shawn Cuddy, Declan Nerney, Louise Morrissey and The Matrimony Band.
A cherished annual tradition for more than six decades, the National Steam Rally did Stradbally and Laois proud yet again, with its celebration of a rich industrial and rural heritage that is sure to bring crowds from all over the country and abroad for many more years to come.
Chairperson Nigel Glynn thanked everyone who helped make the 62nd annual rally such a success, including sponsors Arigna Fuels and the many individuals and organisations whose support makes the event possible year after year.
